Portfolio Development | Grades 9-12

$700.00

12:30pm-3:00pm | August 12 – August 23, 2019 | Monday – Friday

Our Portfolio Development program is an intensive 2 week course for high school students who are serious about art, and are looking to concentrate in this field at the college and university level. This course will guide students in creating a comprehensive portfolio that showcases their skills and creativity to secure their acceptance to college art programs.

Based on extensive research from top art universities’ portfolio requirements, our instructors teach at the college level and provide insight to what is expected in a portfolio. Students will create a series of new works that span from drawing, painting, sculpture as well as mixed media, showcasing a core understanding of a variety of materials as well as the courage to experiment and break the traditional boundaries of each medium and subject matter.

In addition to art making, our Portfolio Development course will prepare students to become fluent in the art language. Through drafting artist statements, participating in group critiques, and photographing and digitizing artworks, students will become familiar and comfortable in speaking about not only their own art, but others’ works as well.

Graduates from One River’s Portfolio Development from 2013 and 2014 have been accepted to art programs across the country including Rhode Island School of Design, School of Visual Arts, Pratt and Parsons in NYC, Washington University in St. Louis, Art Institute of Chicago, as well as many others.
