Summer Camps – Grades K-2

Week 1: Jun 22 - 26
STUDIO
Students will create paintings that function both as a 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works of art. Students will be challenged to build protruding plaster forms onto their canvas that directly correlate with the theme of their painted surface. 

3D Sculptural Paintings

Students will explore animals and their natural habitats. They will paint based on their observations of the natural world as well as imagination of natural things. Students will explore the concept of nature and its relationship to art.

Greetings from Mars! Join us for a week of intergalactic fun! In this camp, students will explore outer space and build a large scale, life size alien sculpture using wire, plaster, cardboard, found objects and acrylic paint.

STUDIO
Explore wings, fangs, scales, horns as you create your own dragon! Students will learn foundational sculpting techniques as they work with armature building and clay to create three-dimensional dragons!

STUDIO
For any student who is curious about the stars and planets! Students will learn about astronomy and cosmology inspiring them to create renderings of what they imagine beyond planet Earth. Students will learn concepts of color and light - utilizing tint, tone and shade to create they galaxial paintings.

STUDIO
Explore underwater creatures from the familiar sea turtle to the exotic vampire squid. Students will be exposed to a variety of seascapes and their inhabitants, which will become the main source of inspiration for these projects. Students will learn a variety of watercolor painting techniques as they create their own underwater scene!

STUDIO
Students will examine different types of dinosaurs to create their own 3-dimensional rendition - focusing on scale, proportion and texture. From high and low relief sculpture to free standing sculpture in the round, students will learn the diverse styles and methods of working with the versatile medium of clay.

Artists from Claude Monet to contemporary artist Andy Goldsworthy have used nature as their main inspiration throughout their art making processes. Students will create drawings using a variety of dry media from observation.
